Best Western Orton Hall
We stopped at the Best Western Orton Hall for the Easter Weekend and were very impressed. Set opposite the Nene Park on the outskirts of Peterborough, the hotel is a former manor house and boasts large grounds, spa and restaurants.
Our room was up two flights of stairs and was a superior room, so came complete with a four poster bed in a vast room with a large en suite. The ensuite could probably be modernised slightly, but all the fittings and fixtures were clean and well maintained. If anything to me it added to the ambience of the room.
We ate at the pub in their grounds, it was a pleasant experience with good wholesome pub style grub our choice. It was served efficiently and all the staff were very friendly. Being someone prone to a nice single malt whisky, I was very impressed with the large selection of various whiskies in the Library Bar.
Although we hadn't booked any treatments at the Imagine Spa, they managed to fit us in for a mud room experience. We also had full use of the spa facilities and made it our home for the morning prior to departure.
The hotel caters for many weddings, and on our first night there was a wedding reception, but we couldn't hear anything from the function rooms booked out for the event. In fact the only reason we knew was the following morning when breakfast was busy - they possibly could have laid on another food bar - but there was ample seating in the two rooms they had laid out.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an easily accessible hotel (only a couple of miles from the A1) with excellent facilities and a large choice of rooms.
