Moorings Hotel

Dates: December 2014, January,  February, March 2015

I have stopped extensively over a three month period. The switch came as the Dalziel Park Hotel was booked up. It's a Best Western brand small hotel on the main route into Motherwell.

To quote my German colleague "it looks like a haunted house" and has 32 rooms,  all en suite.  Room size varies ranging from room 10 which is about twice the size of what I expect a hotel room to be. This is mainly due to the large bay window adoring part of it.  The smallest rooms are on the second floor. There are two distinct parts to the building, the older "haunted house" and a fairly new modern extension. The rooms in the newer extension are not as large and I think have less character than the older building.

I stayed in numerous rooms,  but mainly rooms 10 and 11. They are a reasonable size, with complimentary drinks and Walkers shortbread. Ironing facilities are available on demand and will be brought to you room. Room service is available from the in-house restaurant at a tray charge of £2.

I never had any issues staying at the Moorings Hotel and the staff are warm and friendly and very accommodating. There is free Internet throughout the hotel but I found it patchy at best in the new part of the building.

As it is part of the Best Western family,  you are able to collect rewards points for each stay and spend. Overall 5/5
